Left Hip Replacement Surgery…

Unfortunately I have put some weight back on during the last year. Especially during the last 6 – 8 months. I was having physical problems and found out in January 2013 that needed a total left hip replacement. I was scheduled for surgery on March 5, 2013. Surgery went well and three days later I was released from the hospital. I recently finished my physical therapy sessions. I can now get back on the treadmill and am looking forward to getting the weight back off that I put on plus reach my ultimate weight loss goal!

Great Dinner with Salmon

We enjoyed a great dinner on Friday evening of Salmon, roasted new potatoes and steamed whole green beans. I purchase bags of salmon from Sam’s Club. The bags have individually vaccuum packed salmon center cut fillets. They are delicious seasoned with Mrs. Dash lemon pepper, dried dill and then fried in a skillet on the stove that’s been sprayed with a no-stick cooking spray. They always turn out delicious. I have even gotten my husband that stays away from fish to eat them with me! I sometimes serve them with baked sweet potatoes and of course one of our favorite steamed vegetables.

Purchased a dress for my son’s wedding…

I got a dress for my son’s wedding this afternoon! It’s a size 12 :) in 2008 I bought a dress for my daughter’s wedding in size 3X :( I need to get some shoes and nylons before getting a photo to share! Had a fun afternoon out with my future daughter…lunch at Panera’s and then shopping for the dress at J C Penney’s!

A little French Toast with my fruit…

We enjoy having French toast once in a while around here. I buy a bag of Texas Toast at one of our local grocery store and make a large batch so there are leftovers to freeze for another time. I put my recipe in the A Healthier Lifestyle’sThe Recipe Box” so you can make some too!

Berry Good Oatmeal…

I love having my steel cut oats especially with fresh berries! At times of the year when it’s not so easy to get the fresh berries I cook light peaches, pears or some dried fruit in them during the simmering time. I come up with a special way to cook them so they don’t need to simmer for 40 minutes on the stove. I soak them overnight so they don’t take so long to simmer in the morning. Check out my recipe in A Healthier Lifestyle’sThe Recipe Box“.
